Burn-down chart: a React and Figma chart in four sizes
What does a burn-down chart show?
A burn-down chart starts with a budget and steps it down with each incident or use, against an even-burn line. You see what is left, when it runs out at the current rate and which events took the most. Use it for error budgets, credits and sprint scope.
Chartory ships it as a Figma component and a React component with the same name. The code installs from the shadcn registry with one command and lands in your project as a file you own.
What is the Burn-down component?
It is one <BurnDown> component. Its props are the Figma properties with the same names and values, and the props table above lists them. The data is minutes left per day and numbered incidents.
Sizes XS, S, M and L re-lay the chart out from the data instead of scaling it, so labels stay readable at every size.
When should I use it?
- Does it only go down? Yes means the burn-down fits.
- Is it a budget for a period? Yes means the burn-down fits.
- Are the events the story? Yes means the burn-down fits.
When does another type fit better?
- Used up and refilled. Use Stock sawtooth instead.
- Spend building up. Use Budget runway instead.
- One incident in detail. Use Incident tape instead.
