What does a forecast band chart show?
A forecast band chart shows the actual line up to today and a forecast after it, with a shaded band for the range of likely outcomes. The band widens with time as certainty drops. Use it for cash, demand and capacity plans.
Chartory ships it as a Figma component and a React component with the same name. The code installs from the shadcn registry with one command and lands in your project as a file you own.
What is the Forecast band component?
It is one <ForecastBand> component. Its props are the Figma properties with the same names and values, and the props table above lists them. The data is actuals, then a forecast with a low and a high.
Sizes XS, S, M and L re-lay the chart out from the data instead of scaling it, so labels stay readable at every size.
When should I use it?
- Is there a range around the forecast? Yes means the forecast band fits.
- Is it open-ended, with no budget to burn? Yes means the forecast band fits.
- Does it continue a trend? Yes means the forecast band fits.
When does another type fit better?
- A single forecast line. Use Line chart instead.
- A budget to burn against. Use Budget runway instead.
- Steps between two totals. Use Waterfall instead.
