Calendar heatmap: a React and Figma chart in four sizes

What does a calendar heatmap show?

A calendar heatmap lays days out as weeks and weekdays, then shades each day by its value. Busy weeks, quiet weekends and streaks show up as patterns. Use it for deploys, activity, sales or anything counted per day.

Chartory ships it as a Figma component and a React component with the same name. The code installs from the shadcn registry with one command and lands in your project as a file you own.

What is the Calendar heatmap component?

It is one <CalendarHeatmap> component. Its props are the Figma properties with the same names and values, and the props table above lists them. The data is one value per day.

Sizes XS, S, M and L re-lay the chart out from the data instead of scaling it, so labels stay readable at every size.

When should I use it?

  • Is it one value per day? Yes means the calendar heatmap fits.
  • Is the weekly pattern the point? Yes means the calendar heatmap fits.
  • Does it cover a few months? Yes means the calendar heatmap fits.

When does another type fit better?

  • Hours inside the day matter. Use Radial hour heatmap instead.
  • Only the trend matters. Use Line chart instead.
  • A full year in one loop. Use Spiral year instead.

Calendar heatmap questions

Installing, data, Figma and plans.
