Bump chart

Who leads, week by week.

Definition · Updated Nov 2, 2026

A bump chart shows the rank of each item over time instead of its value. Lines cross when items swap places, so you see who moved up, who fell back and how long a lead lasted. Use it for leaderboards, market share ranks and search positions.

FAQ

Bump chart questions.

What people ask before they put a bump in a dashboard.

  • A line chart plots the value. A bump chart plots the position, so every item takes one row per period and a crossing means two items swapped places.
