# On-time delivery chart

> Show each carrier against the SLA, and how sure the rate is.

**Short answer.** Show each carrier's on-time rate as a dot with its confidence interval against the SLA line, so carriers that are really below stand apart from the uncertain ones. To explain the late deliveries, add a waterfall by cause.

## 050 · Dot plot with intervals widget: Dot plot with intervals (Q3 2026)

ON-TIME DELIVERY · 6 CARRIERS: **95.1%** · 1 BELOW SLA 95% · 95% CONFIDENCE

## Common mistakes

- **Rates with no interval** A carrier with 40 deliveries and one with 4,000 are not equally sure. Show the interval.
- **One rate for every carrier** An overall rate hides the carrier dragging it down.
- **Late parcels with no cause** The rate says how many; the causes say what to fix.

## Questions

### What counts as on time?

Delivered within the promised window. Early deliveries count as on time.

### Why show a confidence interval?

Small carriers swing week to week. The interval shows whether a dip below the SLA is real.

### Can I draw it from my own data?

Yes. The chart is drawn from your rows (carrier, delivered, on time, SLA) and lays out again for its size; nothing is scaled.

### Does the dot plot come in every size?

Yes: XS, S, M and L, each laid out again for its size, in light and dark.
