# Blocks

> Eleven blocks sit under the chart. Each adds one kind of detail, and none repeats what the chart already shows.

| Block | Shows |
| --- | --- |
| Alert | One warning or note |
| Chips | Filters or tags |
| Events | A short timeline |
| Goal | Progress to a target |
| Link | A related page |
| Rank | A top list |
| Share | Parts of a total |
| Split | Two values side by side |
| Table | A few rows |
| Tabs | Switch between views |
| Tiles | Small numbers in a grid |

## Rules

- A block never repeats the **hero value** or a list the chart already shows.
- Blocks use sample data from the **same sector** as the widget.
- Two widgets side by side use **different blocks**, so a dashboard does not repeat itself.

## In code

blocks.tsx:

```tsx
blocks={[
  ["alert", ["Two cards over their limit", "Marketing · Sales", "Review", "warning"]],
  ["goal", ["Q3 revenue", "$500K", "$428K", "of $500K", "86%", "21 days left"]],
]}
```

## Pick two

A widget shows up to **two blocks**. Pick the two that answer the next question after the chart: what is wrong (Alert), how far to go (Goal), who leads (Rank).
